Aldgate Tower
While at WilkinsonEyre architects, Simon Watson was project architect responsible for the completion of this scheme.
At the eastern edge of the City of London, Aldgate tower acts as a gateway building into the financial centre of the capital, curved glazed corners softening the approach into a dense cityscape. The tower forms the first phase of a number of commercial developments for the site following the closure of a notorious traffic gyratory system and its subsequent replacement with a public park. The ground floor and basement levels weave together several decades of preparatory works for previous office schemes on the site, while allowing for any future basement expansions. The 18-storey office tower has 1860m2 floor plates which allow for highly adaptable internal configurations.
