Situário Studio

This conversion of an entrance vestibule of a XVI-Century palace into a viable office space involved creating small yet impactful alterations to the internal configuration and fixtures of the room. The ambition was to preserve the grandeur of the internal space, highlighting the existing, original wall tiles, while incorporating contemporary furniture and minimal furnishings that alude to the building’s cultural history. It was also important to create a space that reflects Situário’s vision for creating calm and context-driven architecture with often minimal cues. Oak shelves, pinewood floors and bespoke birch ply desks are carefully modulated to complement the original setting, and monochrome luminaires coupled with indirect wall lights provide calming counterbalancing tones.

Furniture was designed by Situário, and created by a local carpenter, Mr Domingos from Perna de Pau.
